Crafted from Baltic birch plywood, the Convertible Wine Chair is exactly what it sounds like. Half chair, half wine storage, fully committed to doing the most. I’ve always been fascinated by modularity. The idea that an object can shift, expand, and come alive depending on how you engage with it. That curiosity became the spark for this piece, which transforms from a sculptural seat into a shelving unit for your favorite bottles (or books, or tchotchkes, I don’t judge).
Using CNC technology, I designed a pressure-fit bottle tray constructed from dowels and layered birch. No screws. No glue. Just precision and friction doing their thing. Circular cutouts nod to the material’s makeup and create moments of negative space, letting light and shadow move across the surface throughout the day.
Visually, I was pulling from Kandinsky’s playful geometry. Lines and circles in conversation. And Rothko’s blocky presence. The result is a piece that’s both playful and practical, challenging what furniture should be while still holding your cabernet with grace.
