Cast-iron leaves are preserved by soaking them in a glycerin-based solution, then stabilized as acrylic polymer penetrates their cellular structure, creating a hybrid bio-plastic surface. Over the next year, the leaves will continue to fossilize, turning amber-gold and becoming increasingly translucent. The lamp will evolve over time, offering a painterly display of color-shifting leaves.
